PLEXSYS Interface Products, Inc.® Selected the
Winner of National Training Systems Association (NTSA) Modeling & Simulation Award in the Training category
11 April 2006 - PLEXSYS Interface Products, Inc.® was selected as the winner in the Training category for the National Training Systems Association (NTSA) 2004/2005 M&S Awards and will be awarded a plaque at the 2006 Department of Defense Modeling and Simulation Conference held in Baltimore, MD. The Air Space Control and Operations Trainer, version V, (ASCOT V), developed by PLEXSYS Interface Products, is the heart of the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Mission Training Center (MTC). The AWACS MTC fully emulates the functionality of the E-3's Operations section. The AWACS MTC provides the USAF Distributive Mission Operations (DMO) initiative with Command, Control, Communications and Integration capability. Supporting the Combat Air Forces (CAF), this vital C3I component enables realistic virtual battlespace training. The DMO mission is rapidly becoming a primary component of CAF training. PLEXSYS Interface Products is an original USAF DMO Partner.
In addition to DMO, the AWACS MTC supports all AWACS mission crew training; Battlestaff, Weapons, Surveillance, and Electronic Combat Officer positions -- major training areas of Initial Qualification, Mission Qualification and Continuation Training. The AWACS MTC provides high fidelity, realistic training, fully preparing these aircrew members for the entire spectrum of exercise or contingency/combat operations. Utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies, the ASCOT V keeps pace with industry changes and evolving operational standards. Employing distributive processing technologies, the AWACS MTC allows for multi-tasking within a single facility. From the 14 operator consoles, different training events can be independently scheduled and concurrently performed. This distributive processing feature allows a single facility to become a training "force multiplier", allowing more efficient and effective utilization of training resources.
The distributive processing feature provides a backbone for Data Link training. "The entire CAF is becoming largely immersed in Data Link operations in the Joint and Combined operational arenas, and the ASCOT V allows for all forms of Data Link training. A single AWACS MTC facility can be configured for multiple E-3 operations where operators sitting next to each other are on different virtual E-3's. Configured in this manner, the operators can train all aspects of Data Link operations in an interactive manner from standard Data Link surveillance activities, to performing electronic combat or Fighter Data Link (FDL) operations thus enabling comprehensive preparations for real-world missions," said Gino Hodges, PLEXSYS Standards Integration Engineer. Simple or complex scenarios can be easily created to support any training requirement using the ASCOT V's comprehensive scenario development capability. ASCOT V can be easily updated to meet changing or dynamic mission training needs and is used extensively by PACAF and ACC scenario developers to create realistic and challenging simulations for all manner of training requirements.
