DIRECT LINK INTERFACE (DLI)
The versatile DLI (Direct Link Interface) provides users with the ability to convert LINK-16 messages between DIS (TADIL-TALES) and other Ethernet and Serial formats. These formats include:
- NACT - NC3A Alliance Ground Surveillance Capability Testbed
- JREAP – Joint Range Extension Application Protocol
- MIL-STD-1553
- SIMPLE – Standard Implementation for Multi-Platform Link Evaluation
- Additional formats can be developed
The available interfaces allow legacy products to exchange data with tactical simulation systems. Aside from the supported formats, the DLI framework allows rapid development of additional interfaces. The software can be used on standard COTS PC hardware, with an addition of a PCI 1553 card to handle the serial interace to the 1553 bus. DLI also offers some traffic analysis options, where message data can be logged and later examined. The software provides a simple graphical user interface for enabling and configuring one or more interfaces used in data translation. The DLI capabilities have been proven in several exercises, to include MAJEX 07 and Amalgam Arrow 07.
