ASCOT provides real-time generation and control of the simulated joint virtual battlespace for warfighter training. Pre-scripted air, land, and maritime entities can be taken over and dynamically controlled within ASCOT, or new entities can be quickly created on the fly. Sim drivers have full control of each entity's weapon, sensor, IFF, and data-link systems.
Maps and Visual Displays
ASCOT Map is configurable in real-time. Operators can select and apply backgrounds, map overlays and entity features as needed in response to the virtual battlespace situation.
Utilitize CADRG Maps for real-world visual references within any theater. Terrain images from aerial photography, satellites, or a specific image or graphic can also be used as the Map background. Load and display any number or combination of DAFIF data map layers, VMap data, exercise specific map overlays or map layers dynamically created. Operators can activate an entity's 3D visual display of detection and engagement cones. ASCOT will automatically displays engagement lines and weapons fly-out.
ASCOT can emulate all entity types with realistic maneuver capabilities, emissions generation and detection, weapons employment, and data-link. Simulated ECM/ECCM implementation includes RADAR and IFF jamming against any entity and the ability to drop Chaff and Flares dynamically. ASCOT utilizes NIMA DTED and DMED files to enhance the synthetic environment with ground clamping for entity maneuvering, terrain masking of radar, and terrain follow for Aircraft flight.
Background Traffic Generator
Background Traffic Generator is a new capability within ASCOT. Background Traffic Generator immediately populates the virtual environment with up to 100,000 entities. Cars automatically follow roads, and aircraft automatically follow air routes. Background Traffic Generator allows trainers to enhance training with realistic background traffic.
Data-link
Data-link features within ASCOT create a realistic and robust link environment for C4I training. Messages can be pre-scripted, manually generated, or automatically triggered by operational events at the operator's discretion. Message details are auto-filled with real-time data to decrease sim driver tasking. One sim driver can easily manage link operations for multiple platforms within any scenario. Generation of data-link messages are controllable down to the bit level for any link capable platform.
