PLEXSYS Wins Major Simulator Contract with QinetiQ for UK Royal Air Force AWACS Mission Crew Training
Distributive Interactive Simulation continues to grow with American Allies
November 11, 2009 - The Distributed Synthetic Air Land Training (DSALT) demonstration facility at RAF Waddington
PLEXSYS Interface Products, Inc.®, which specializes in the provision of modeling and simulation systems and support services for aircraft and airspace control, has been selected by QinetiQ to provide an AWACS E-3D simulator for training of AWACS Mission Crews. The contract is valued at $5.3 million for a period of 55 months.
QinetiQ is a leading international provider of technology-based services and solutions to the defense, security and related markets predominantly in the UK and US. QinetiQ provides technology insertion and consultancy services to commercial and industrial customers around the world.
The win is part of PLEXSYS's growing portfolio of Airborne Warning and Control System Mission Training Centers (AWACS MTC) around the world at Tinker AFB, OK, Kirtland AFB, NM, Elmendorf AFB, AK, and Kadena AS, Japan. These versatile training centers allow the potential of advanced distributed simulation to complement live flying training in order to enhance AWACS Mission Crews performance to conduct both peacetime and wartime operations globally.
"PLEXSYS has an excellent track record in managing and controlling the highly complex processes involved in training the AWACS Community," said David Hawk, PLEXSYS E-3D Program Manager. "This win is yet another example of how companies like PLEXSYS can leverage our resources and expertise to meet customer objectives in training our military, which results in reduced training cost for our military forces and military forces of our Allies. An unexpected honor for PLEXSYS, this simulator will occupy a hangar and sit on the same concrete floor that B-24s rested on between bombing missions in 1944."
