PLEXSYS TEAMS WITH QINETIQ TO PROVIDE AWACS E-3D

In November 2009, PLEXSYS teamed with QinetiQ to provide an AWACS E-3D simulator for training of the United Kingdom AWACS Mission Crews.  During the first half of 2010, console hardware and simulation software were installed and tested.  In addition, PLEXSYS personnel trained operators in the use of the Advanced Simulation Combat Operations Trainer (ASCOT), which serves as the backbone for the simulation system.  With operators trained and system implementation completed and tested, the first test simulation activity conducted by the Royal Air Force through an exercise called Swift Panther.  During the test, 4 Mission Training Center positions were staffed, 1 by INZPIRE and 3 by RAF crewmembers from the E-3D Operational Evaluation Flight.  Customer feedback was very positive.  Squadron Leader JF Taylor stated, “The execution of Exercise SWIFT PANTHER on 21 Jul 10 highlighted the efficacy of the AWACS in providing trg within the ABTC.  The feedback from the exercise participants was very positive with the AWACS providing everything expected of it.  Often we are too quick to criticise and slow to praise.  This is one of those times when praise is merited.”  Continued operator training and system implementation will continue for several months until the complete training system is handed-over to the RAF.
