The AWACS MTC enables live control events known as MSLITE - Mission Simulator Live Intercept Training Environment. Before MSLITE, training opportunities were missed due to E-3 sortie loss from factors such as weather and aircraft availability. Now scheduled live control events can be conducted on short notice within the AWACS MTC.

MSLITE is accomplished by receiving live Radar and Radio feeds from the Air Defense Sectors around the US via leased lines, which are then integrated into the AWACS MTC to provide a live air picture.

The AWACS MTC's advanced training capabilities provide the perfect medium to support the ever increasing AWACS operations tempo and mission scope.


The benefits to the AWACS community are significant:

 - Augments live AWO/WD training requirements
 - Replaces up to 35% of Live Control for Mission Ready WDs
 - Controlling aircraft from the ground significantly reduces E-3 fuel and maintenance costs
 - Allows Live Control opportunities during heavy E-3 tasking
