ASCOT V
The Advanced Simulation Combat Operations Trainer (ASCOT) is an Exercise Generation (EG) tool that provides a diverse and powerful wargaming capability to the C4I community. With the ASCOT, the entire battlespace can be created and orchestrated. All entity types are supported, with realistic emulation of maneuver capabilities (using unclassified weapons systems performance parameter templates), emissions generation and detection, weapons employment and data-link.
The synthetic environment is an important piece of the battlespace composition. For instance, Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED) is used in a number of ways: for radar and radio degradation and terrain masking, allowing for terrain follow of entities. Jamming, by type and intensity, can be applied against Radar, IFF, and communications. When the exercise is complete, it can be saved and played back again for debriefing and lessons learned.
· The ASCOT system is mature, operational, with continuous software development since 1982.
· Earlier versions of ASCOT were installed at Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Botswana, and Canada.
· ASCOT V is currently installed at the United States Air Force AWACS Mission Training Centers (MTC) in OK, AK, and Japan, the AWACS Mission Simulator (AMS) at the Distributive Mission Operations Center (DMOC) in NM, and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in AZ; the NATO AWACS Training Center in Geilenkirchen, Germany; and the Boeing 737 AEW&C Mission Analysis Center (MAC) in WA.
· PLEXSYS has an impressive track record of incorporating suggestions from the field into software version upgrades in minimum time. Examples include the "pairing line" and the Fire Control System (FCS) window.
